Creating Reality
Aurora Smedley is a musician and writer based in Los Angeles & New York.
After graduating from UC Berkeley in Geophysics, she taught English in China and started a band overseas. But after garnering local success, she had an injury that caused her to effectively lose everything.
She fell into a deep depression, and what followed were 4 years of emotional struggle.
This inspired her to hike over two thousand miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. This led her to spontaneous spiritual experiences and, ultimately, leaving academia to pursue her art professionally.
She was soon featured on NPR and KEXP for her work, earning a finalist slot on NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest with her band Midnight Daughter. She has since gone solo (stay tuned for music updates).
Aurora hosts The Aurora Smedley Podcast to discuss “what the world needs to hear.” And is currently penning her first book on the subject of psychology and mental health.
